Research Summary: Dr. Santos has expertise in symptom science, genomics, early life adversity, and child neurodevelopment. His research focuses the developmental origins of health and disease for at risk children. Most of his NIH-funded work focuses on the placenta-brain axis to identify genetic and epigenetic mechanisms that are predictive of later life health in children who experience early life adversity, such as social hardship and biological insults (e.g., preterm birth).
